Send to Amazon Workflow Update
Updated: February 13th, 2023
Amazon is continuing to replace the Send/Replenish inventory workflow with the new Send to Amazon workflow. The latest communication from Amazon is as follows:
Send to Amazon will replace the Send/replenish inventory workflow for FBA shipments that are created through APIs on March 1, 2023. This change is part of our efforts to make shipment creation more scalable and flexible.
All sellers who create shipments via Seller Central are already using Send to Amazon. If you create your FBA shipments by using an in-house or third-party developer tool that's integrated with Amazon Marketplace Web Service API or Selling Partner API, you'll have three options to manage your shipments:
- [Option 1] 100% on Send to Amazon in Seller Central: Create, edit, and complete your shipment on Send to Amazon.
- [Option 2] 100% on API: Create, edit, and complete your shipment on Amazon Marketplace Web Service API or Selling Partner API.
- [Option 3] Send to Amazon and API: Use an API to create your shipment, then go to your Shipping Queue in Seller Central to access the API-created shipment. You'll be directed automatically to Send to Amazon to edit and complete your shipment.
Once you view or edit an API-created shipment in Send to Amazon, you cannot use an API to further edit the shipment. In addition, shipments that you create on Send to Amazon can't be edited using an API.
Important dates
- February 28 is the last day on which you can view and edit API-created shipments using Send/replenish inventory.
- Starting March 1, the old workflow won't be available.
What this means for our customers:
Our SP API integration allows creation of shipments, editing item quantities and setting up transportation (LTL and SPD, using partnered or owned carriers) entirely from our platform. You do not have to use SellerCentral at all. This is Option 2 (100% API) from Amazon's available workflow options. This means you can operate largely like under the Send/Replenish model and not use Send To Amazon. You can create shipments by scanning item barcodes, selecting your items via a web page or by uploading a shipping plan file with Merchant SKUs and quantities. Please be aware, with the SP API, Amazon has added a few restrictions that were not previously enforced:
- Co-mingled (stickerless) and FNSKU labeled items can no longer be included in one shipment. Amazon will split the shipment with both types of items.
- Once a shipment has been created, new items cannot be added to it. Two shipments can't be merged. Items can be removed or edited by 5% or 6 units.
- Individual shipments are limited to 200 unique SKUs.
If at any time you want to convert the API created shipment to Send to Amazon (Option 3) that is available as well.
For customers that chose to go with Option 1 (work completely in SellerCentral), we've also developed a set of tools for streamlining creating Send to Amazon manifest and pack group files. If you chose to use the Send to Amazon workflow, you can streamline packing, item tracking and item verification (items packed vs pack group or vs manifest) via our Send to Amazon tools.
Current customers on Premium and Enterprise plans can access the shipment creation workflow here.
